Just a friendly reminder that at one point this happened because I was home sick from school with access to a webcam
By: Paige Padilla
Give me a second I,
I need to get my docking straight
Openweights are in the bathroom getting ready now to dominate
Our cox’n she’s waiting for us just across the lake
Her seat’s been taken by some novice asking our strokerate, and
I know I told it to her months ago
But I guess that she forgets
And between the lanes and exertion pains
The muscles scream out and they strain, you know
I’m trying hard to row it up
So if by the time the race closes
And we feel like falling down
we’ll row ourselves home
Tonight
We will win
So let’s set this course on fire
Gold burns brighter than the sun
Tonight
We will win
So let’s set the course on fire
Gold burns brighter
Than the sun
Now I know that times not
All that you got
I guess that I, I just thought
Maybe we could forget that crab she caught
But our coxswain’s back
So let’s raise a toast
‘Cause I found some strength left to row myself home
Tonight
We will win
So let’s set the course on fire
Gold burns brighter
Than the sun
Tonight
We will win
So let’s set the course on fire
Gold burns brighter
Than the sun
Row ourselves home tonight (Nananananana)
Just row ourselves home tonight (Nananananana)
Row ourselves home tonight (Nananananana)
Row ourselves home tonight (Nananananana)
The wind is on port side
We have nothing stopping our run
So don’t sub us out, we’ll row ourselves home tonight
Lane Six never arrived
And it’s down to the wire
So don’t sub us out, we’ll row ourselves home tonight
Tonight
We will win
So let’s set the course on fire
Gold burns brighter
Than the sun
Tonight
We will win
So let’s set the course on fire
Gold burns brighter
Than the sun
So if by the time the race closes
And you feel like falling down
We’ll row ourselves home tonight

Non-rowers say I’m the weirdest, cause my hands won’t stop bleeding
Got my rowers in London and they won’t stop hotseating, huh
On the water… There is another world. I can sit in my boat and look out across the lake and know, deep in my heart, that the world I live in during these water practices, ends at the shore, but that’s okay. Because right now, during this practice, I am in another world.
To my left, I watch another boat row in time with us. Every body moves in unison. They say the human body is one of the most brilliantly designed machines in the world. It is designed to live. But in the dream world… It is a machine finely tuned to move a boat. Every muscles twitches, every breath escapes, every calories is burned for the sole purpose of moving that boat. Living is just what happens while you’re rowing. Not the other way around. Not in the dream world.
I feel as if I am one remove from reality. The coxswain calls for us at attention. Lined up against two other boats, we’re doing a 400 meter sprint. “5, 4, 3, 2, 1. All hands are down. Ready. Attention. Row.” and the start begins. We’re off.
High twenty. I grip my oar tight. My muscles hurt but I tell them to shut up an obey me. I’ve always had a problem with finding the water. Not today. My blade becomes a water seeking missile. Attack it. Attack it. Attack it.
Again. Again. Again. Until your body obeys or breaks. Again. Attack it. Again.
And then… In the dream world that is the lake… We are no longer just rowing. We are somewhere few mortals reach. It’s goes by many names. Heaven. Nirvana. We are in pain but we are there. We are apart. We do not belong to the earthly realm any longer. We have moved past it.
Because… We are no longer just rowing.
We are flying.
We are infinite.
