My shoulder seems to hurt worse during warm up.
A symptom of a half torn rotator cuff.
Now try having two of them.
Having fun yet?
It’s as if my body thinks that if it throws enough of a fit… I’ll stop what I’m doing, but that’s not how I’m programmed.
You don’t stop because it hurts, or you’re sick, or your shoulder gives a twinge. You fight with every last piece of you for every god damn inch on that race course.
Sure. My shoulder may hurt during warm up, and it may hurt during the race, but sitting on the launch and watching my team pass my by would hurt twice as bad. Being launched is pain that can’t be medicated away.
“Pain? Yes, of course. Racing without pain is not racing. But the pleasure of being ahead outweighed the pain a million times over. To hell with the pain. What’s six minutes of pain compared to the pain they’re going to feel for the next six months or six decades. You never forget your wins and losses in this sport. ”—(via for-those-about-to-row)
You do in the end forget your wins but i have never forgoten a single loss
serious question here, how did you go about changing clubs? Is it awkward doing it? I don't like the club i'm at but if I change to another it sort of feels like a dog act...
It’s a little awkward…. but honestly it was a great decision for me. I love my new team, and it took me great places and I love everyone on it. Just contact the coaches of the team you want to switch to and simply talk to them. Get a feel for their program and if it fits, it fits.
Hi! I'm 5'7 and 107 lbs and I row novice 8, and my best 500m was 2:09...i feel like thats a really bad 500m time. And my cardio vascular endurance sucks. Have any tips on how to increase it? Its getting better but really slowly:(
Do long distance pieces. They will really help build your endurance. Cross training my also help. Lift a little, run, bike, swim. Work your tail off. It will pay off in the long run I promise.
