feel free not to publish this or answer me, i'm not really looking for a response. i just thought you should know that based on the way you come across/portray yourself on tumblr, i'm 99% sure i would hate you if i knew you in real life. you might not care, and that's fine, but *shrugs*
Here’s who I am. I am a rower that loves talking about rowing, doing rowing related things, blogging, and going to practice.
My favorite color is purple, and my favorite animal is a cat.
I have a tendency to love to much, trust too much, and give too many second chances to those who don’t deserve them.
I’m a little self absorbed but lets be real, most people are, and I talk a lot.
There’s a handful of people I trust, and like, and most of those people I don’t get to see very often.
You should also know I get down on myself a lot, because I don’t think I’m good enough for anything, but with the help of this sport, my friends, and writing, I’m moving past that.
That’s who I am?
You want to know what I know about you? Not much. You may be having a bad day. You may just be angry and taking it out on me. But even though I don’t know that much about you… I know we probably wouldn’t be friends in real life, because you hide behind a computer and an anonymous button. I’m not friends with cowards.
I have a friend from Christchurch, NZ that’s interested in rowing but doesn’t exactly now how to go abouts joining a club. I’m from america so the process is probably different here, so does anyone row there? Can you help me, help her?
hey i never really knew how the coaches did this...but if you're a heavyweight and have one of the fastest erg times, but your fitness is low(i guess) because your heavier, does it affect(or effect whatevs) if your in the a or b, or varsity?
well…… hrm. Maybe, depending on if your coaches factor in weight adjustment. A person weighing 130 that pulls a 2:00 will beat a person weighinh 150 pulling a 2:00. So I mean… I guess.
The girl you just called a starboard? she spends hours rowing port. the boy you just speared with your oar? his coach makes him do twenty minute wall sits every day. that kid you just pushed into the lake? he’s a lightweight, not a coxswain. that guy you just made fun of for throwing up? he just pulled a 1:40 flat on his 6k. put this on your status for an hour if you are against bullying in crew. you never know what it’s like until you row a 10k in their seat.
So I'm about to start my second season of crew. Fall was reallyy fun and I absolutely loved it, but lately I haven't been feeling any motivation. The season starts in 2 weeks and I'm just really intimidated. I'm out of shape because I stupidly didn't go to winter conditioning, and my asthma causes a lot of erging problems for me. My split times are horrendous and I can barely run a mile. I feel so helpless :/
Don’t feel helpless. We all come across road bumps, and yeah, that’s hard, but you can move past them. Try putting in a couple extra hours of work a week to catch up. Maybe start running, or going to the gym to lift. It’ll pay off. Don’t forget the reasons why you love to row and let that inspire you.
